SUSHI SAIGON, South Beach's Vietnamese Restaurant with Sushi Bar, introduces its first comprehensive Sake Menu
MIAMI BEACH, October 16, 2003- Sushi Saigon , the recently opened Vietnamese-Japanese restaurant on Washington Avenue, has launched a Sake Menu to complement its Asian drinks selections.
In addition to plum wine and Asian beer brands such as Singha from Thailand, Asahi, Ichiban, Sapporo and Kirin, all imported from Japan, customers can now enjoy a wide variety of sakes, from the popular sakes of California and Oregon to the chilled handcrafted premium sakes of Mutsu and other regions of Japan.
Sake, though it dates back to the 3 rd century in Japan, is still not yet well understood in America. A common misconception is that sake should be served hot. Different types of sake are most flavorful at different temperatures. Premium sake is usually enjoyed cool; serving sake hot in Japan was popular during and after World War II to cover the flaws of the inferior sakes made in an era of rice shortages. Today, regular sakes are typically enjoyed warm in cool or cold weather.
The new sake menu offers a brief description of production methods, tasting notes, and how to distinguish between the various grades and types of sake. Sake is not wine, but they share many similarities; some sakes are full bodied and explosive, while others are very fragrant and sweet. The sakes on offer will nicely complement both the Japanese and the Vietnamese menus.
For the undecided or for those who want to explore the different flavors within the selection, the menu also offers a sake flight called the Sushi Saigon Sake Sampler composed of three varieties. Kanpai!
